Each traveler receives a premium Therm-a-Rest, REI or approved equivalent inflatable mattress and an individual inflatable pillow. This Premium Sleep System is included for all three camping nights.
Porters carry up to 7 kg of your personal belongings, including your sleeping bag and inflatable mattess. You hike with only a lights daypack for essentials.
The guide and operating team carry satellite communication equipment, emergency oxygen, professional first-aid equipment and radios. The satellite phone is carried by the guide or operating tem for emergencies.

At the briefing, you receive a duffle bag for the items transported by the porter team. The total allowance is 7kg and includes the sleeping bag and inflatable mattress. You access the duffle at camp, not continuously during the walking day.
IMPORTANT: The 7 kg allowance is not 7 kg exclusively for clothing. Your sleeping bag and mattress form part of the total weight carried by the porter team.

Inca Trail spaces are controiled by the Peruvian authorities and te permit must match the traveler’s indentity and start date. Check the live situation with our team and review the practical rules in our guide to Inca Trail permits and availability before making a non-changeable travel commitment.
Send your preferred start date, number of travelers and passport details requested by the booking team.
Inkayni verifies permit availability and confirms whether the Signature departure can operate on that date.

After the required payment is received, Inkayni secures the available permits and sends the booking confirmation.

The trek is best described as moderate to challenging. Day 2 is the hardest because the trail climbs to aprroximately 4,215m / 13,829 ft before descending to Pacaymayu. Day 3 is longer and includes repeated climbs and descents on stone steps. Arrive in Cusco or the Sacred Valley with enough time to acclimatize. The current recommendation is at least two days; travelers over 60 are advised on the existing page to consider three days, but individual needs vary.
Use broken-in hiking footwear with good grip. Do not begin the trek in new boots.
Speak with a qualified health professional about altitude, heart, respiratory, joint or other medical concerns.
Train with regular walking, stairs or hills and consecutive active days rather than relying only on short gym sessions.
Hydrate consistently and carry the amount of water requested for the initial trail section.
Travel insurance should cover trekking at the maximum altitude of the itinerary and include evacuation where applicable.
