FAQS?

Is there internet on the visit to the Mountain of Colors?

The internet signal is nil during most of the tour, especially in the Mountain 7 Colors – Ausangate. However, from Cusco to some parts of the road it will be possible to receive an internet signal on your mobile phone. After that and for the rest of the trip we will be in the open field, so we will not have an internet signal.

What is the best date for the 7 Colors Mountain Tour?

The best time to visit the Mountain 7 Colors, and have good weather is between April – October, since during these dates we have the presence of clear skies and at a lesser scale river precipitation. The driest months are between June – August, the winter in the Andes.

January to March is summer in Peru, however, the rainy season is present for Cusco, Salkantay, Humantay Lake, and Rainbow Mountain.

Money in Peru?

Peru uses the Nuevo Sol (S/.), change between S/. 3.00 to S/. 3.30 depending on the exchange rate of the US dollar (US) and current events.

It is advisable to bring cash, an ATM card, or traveler’s checks, as a credit card, which can be used for cash advances in an emergency.

When you receive local money, ask for single (small bills), as S/tickets. The European Commission has recently published a study on the role of the EU in the field of education and training. Carry as much as possible, especially in small towns.

Public restrooms often charge a small fee for use and changing large tickets may be impossible.

The best places for exchange rate money are fast currency exchanges which often give slightly better rates than banks.

Many places accept U.S. dollars and do not accept broken notes as they are unlikely to be accepted by local Peruvians.

It’s better not to change money on the street because counterfeit notes are a problem.

How’s the weather in Peru?

The climate in Peru is extremely varied depending on the region you visit!

Peru has a wide variety of climates due to its proximity to the equator and tropical influence, together with the high altitudes of the Andes and the strong currents of the Pacific Ocean. The country is generally divided into three main geographical regions:

Coast – The main feature of the coast is dryness – it is mostly desert, but a desert with mild temperatures, and lots of humidity. Light rain falls a few months of the year, but usually, the coast is covered by heavy fog from the sea, which brings much fog over land and often a feeling of cold. During the summer months (December-April), the fog disappears and temperatures can exceed 30oC, especially in the north.

Mountains – The Andes have two well-marked seasons – the dry season with its sunny days from April to October and the rainy season between November and March. The day temperatures do not fluctuate much throughout the year, but the night temperatures of the dry season often cause a strong cold due to frequent frosts above 3,500 mts (11,500 ft). Most tourists choose to visit during the dry months. The weather varies greatly depending on altitude. Overall, the mountain climate is wild and unpredictable at any time of year!

Amazon – A tropical climate with two seasons – dry and hot between April to October and a high heat season between November and March. High humidity is present throughout the year.
