Itinerary

Tour to Caral from Lima

We start early, around 6:00 a.m., with pick-up from your hotel or Airbnb in Lima in a private tourist vehicle. We’ll travel north along the Pan-American Highway, passing through the fertile valleys of Huaura and Supe, while your guide shares the historical and cultural background of the site.

Upon arrival at the monumental area of Caral, our expert guide will introduce you to this extraordinary site and its continental significance. Then, we’ll begin a walking tour through the archaeological complex, visiting its main structures:

  • Main Plaza and Central Pyramid: the ceremonial core of the city, where public rituals once took place.
  • Amphitheater and Altar of the Sacred Fire: a symbolic space for offerings, with evidence of music and early astronomy.
  • Smaller temples and elite residences: home to Caral’s religious and scientific authorities.

During the tour, you’ll appreciate the ingenious irrigation systems, anti-seismic architecture, and ritual use of musical instruments—evidence of a peaceful and highly organized civilization.

After the visit, we’ll head to a local restaurant for an **optional lunch** (not included). You’ll then have a short break to relax or shop for souvenirs before returning to Lima.

Your experience concludes with arrival back at your hotel by sunset.

Note: We recommend bringing water, a hat, sunscreen, and wearing comfortable shoes suitable for dry and rocky terrain.
