Itinerary

Wachuma Ceremony

Early in the morning (8:00 a.m.), we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and drive to the town of Chinchero (3,762 m / 12,343 ft), less than an hour away. This Andean village, known for its ancestral connection to the land, will host your day of spiritual introspection.

Upon arrival, we’ll continue to the shores of Piuray Lagoon, surrounded by mountains, agricultural fields, and a deep silence that fosters inner reflection. There, the spiritual guide (Andean master) will prepare the ceremonial space with incense, flowers, coca leaves, and symbolic elements from the Andean worldview.

The ceremony begins with an energetic cleansing and a brief invocation to the Apus and Pachamama, followed by the intake of Wachuma (San Pedro), an ancestral brew used to open the heart, dissolve blockages, and expand perception.

For several hours, participants enter a state of expanded awareness, accompanied by meditations, traditional chants, live music, and contemplative walks around the lagoon. The experience may be lived in silence or with gentle participation, depending on the moment and your personal process.

Toward the end of the day, we share a ritual of gratitude and a light refreshment of fruit and organic herbal infusions. This is a moment to integrate the experience—either in words or in respectful silence.

Finally, we return to Cusco. We recommend spending the rest of the day in rest and quiet reflection so your body and spirit can process the depth of the experience.

Important recommendations before the Wachuma ceremony:

  • Avoid psychiatric medications such as antidepressants (SSRIs), MAOIs, or stimulants. Combining them with Wachuma can be dangerous.
  • Do not consume alcohol or recreational drugs at least 48 hours beforehand; they affect mental clarity and connection.
  • Reduce or eliminate red meat, heavy foods, fried foods, sugars, and dairy from the day before. Eat light and natural.
  • Avoid sexual activity the previous day to conserve physical and emotional energy.
  • Stay away from stressful or negative environments beforehand; your emotional state influences the experience.

Important:

  • Do not partichipate if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or on your active menstrual cycle (for energetic and cultural reasons).
  • People with eart problems, severe hypertension, or psychiatric conditions should abstain or consult in advance.

During the ceremony:

  • Do not judge your emotions or what you experience; each person’s process is unique.
  • Respect the ceremonial space: maintain silence, follow the master’s guidance, and avoid distractions or interruptions.
