Itinerary of the 5-day Tour:
Day 1: Arrival in Cusco – Sacred Valley
Our Inkayni Peru Tours representative will pick you up from the airport or bus station in Cusco. Then, we will go to Ollantaytambo (Sacred Valley of the Incas). It will take one hour and a half approximately to get to Ollantaytambo. It is a 2-hour drive.
You will have the afternoon to acclimatize to the altitude of the Sacred Valley (3720 masl).
What can you do in Ollantaytambo?
- Depending on the time you arrive in Ollantaytambo, you can do the Inti Punku (sungate) Trek.
- Visit the Archeological Complex of Ollantaytambo
- Walk around the traditional streets of Ollantaytambo
- You should definitely try the delicious craft beer.
- Trek to the temple of Pumamarka
- Go to Yanacocha Lagoon
- Hike to Perolniyoc waterfall
- Take as many pictures as possible. Those are memories you will treasure forever.
- Among other activities.

Day 2: Ollantaytambo – Machu Picchu
- After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will go to Ollantaytambo train station to board our 06.40 am Executive Class Train (Inca Rail).
- We will go to Aguas Calientes town. It takes 1 hour and 40 minutes to get to Aguas Calientes. Upon our arrival in Machu Picchu town, we will go to your hotel to leave your belongings.
- Then, We will board the bus to Machu Picchu citadel. It is a 30-minute drive to get there. Along the ride, you will observe the wonderful faura and fauna.
- Once in Machu Picchu, we will enter with our entrance tickets and the original passports.
- Our 02-hour and 30-minute tour will start in Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. After the tour. You can also climb de Huayna Picchu Mountain.
What can you do in Machu Picchu town?
- If you have enough time after your guided tour of the citadel, you cam visit the craft market of Machu Picchu.
- You can walk around the tourist town and take photos of the charming streets.
- At the end of the day you will go to your hotel Hatun Samay ***, or similar.
Day 3: Machu Picchu – Sacred Valley
- We will board our 08:30 am train back to Ollantaytambo. It will take 01:40 hours approximately to get to the town.
- Upon our arrival in Ollantaytambo, we will begin our guided tour there for around 45 minutes.
- At 12:30 pm we will have a Buffet Lunch in Urubamba.
- After that, we will go to the Archeological Site of Moray where we will have our guided tour of 40 minutes approximately.
- Our next stop will be Salt Mines in Maras.
- We will get to the “Rainbow town” of Chinchero; here we will visit its Archeological Site and its Famous Textile center.
- Approximately at 06:30 pm,we will be back in Cusco.

Ollantaytambo, the Inca living city
Ollantaytambo, is listed as a living Culture, and a Living Inca City since its inhabitants live according to customs inherited from their ancestors. Their houses are built on Inca bases.
It is located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, in the province of Urubamba (Cusco), at 2,792 meters above sea level, almost 60 kilometers from the city of Cusco. The town sits next to the Urubamba River.
Moray, The Agricultural LAB of the Sacred Valley
Moray is located 7 km far from the Maras’ community, in the Inca Sacred Valley, and 38 km approximately to the northeast of Cusco. It is at an altitude of 3500 meters above sea level.
It is believed that Moray was used by the Incas as an agriculture research station. The terraces were made by building containment walls filled with fertile earth. They were watered through a complex irrigation system. At the base of the terraces, there is a rainwater storage system. The entire system allowed the cultivation of over 250 types of vegetables such as potatoes, corn, quinoa, kiwicha, winter and summer squash, and even coca.
Salt Mines in Maras, an attractive site in the Sacred Valley of the Incas
Maras is a town in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, 40 kilometers north of Cusco in Peru. The most outstanding attractions in the town of Maras is the Salt Mines, which its origin dates back to the Early Horizon period, having been reused during all pre hispanic times and with more intensity in the Inca, Colonial, Republican and Contemporary periods.
There are more than 3000 small pools, each owned by individual families. Every three days during the dry season, people will fill their pools up with salt water that flows from a natural spring. Once the water evaporates, the salt gradually solidifies.
These amazing constructions continue to provide the country and beyond with its pink salt which has been recommended by experts as a healthy option to flavor meals due to its curative properties.

Chinchero Archeological Site – a living culture
Chinchero town ancient traditions have been passed down from generation to generation, so the spirit of the Incas survives here in Chinchero to this day.
The people of Chinchero are proud of their traditions. They work together (Ayllu) and they still dress in their colorful clothes, they keep their devotion to their deities, and they love their neighbors.
It is also known as the city of the Rainbow and it is located 28 km northwest of Cusco in the province of Urubamba, at an altitude of 3,762 m.a.s.l.

Textile Center in Chinchero
Chinchero is the center of weaving in Peru. It is home to the Interpretation Center of Andean Textiles. Local women entertain tourists with weaving demonstrations. Women show how they produce different colors for the wool they spin and weave. The women wear their traditional costumes and are happy to meet tourists.
The Textile Center in Chinchero was founded in 1996 in Cusco with the objective of contributing to the existence of the traditional weavings.

Day 4: Rainbow Mountain
- Inkayni Peru Tours vehicle will pick you up from your hotel at 04:00 am. to our trip toward the Rainbow Mountain.
- After 02 hours and a half in our transport, we will get to Japura to have breakfast. We will continue for about 30 minutes more until we get to Qayrawiri where our adventure will begin.
- Our trek of 02 hours will start. We will hike a distance of 02 km until we finally get to our destination, the Rainbow Mountain. Here, you will have 40 minutes approximately to take all the pictures you want and enjoy the beautiful landscape, then we’ll return to our start point of our trek.
- At 01:30 pm we will go back to Japura, where we will have lunch. Finally, we will be back in Cusco at 07:00 pm approximately.
How to acclimatize to get to Vinicunca safely?
You should rest or low your pace since altitude sickness symptoms usually come on within 12 to 24 hours of reaching a higher elevation and then get better within a day or two as your body adjusts to the change in altitude.
Highest elevation in Vinicunca will be 5 020 masl/ 16 470 ft and the lowest elevation is 3 339 amsl/10 955 ft.
Acclimatization tips:
Below you will find some tips to acclimatize to the altitude and get to Vinicunca safely.
- To acclimatize to the altitude, it is recommendable to do some activities that don’t imply much physical effort.
- It is always better to take with you only the most essential things. Carrying too many things will make you feel breathless
- Hiking Vinicunca goes from moderate to challenging level. It is recommended you drink lots of water during Vinicunca hike.

Day 5: Transfer to the Airport (End of the tour)

San Pedro Market:
San Pedro or Central Market of Cusco is five blocks from Cusco Plaza de Armas. It houses a large number of food stalls, with whole sections dedicated exclusively to fruit juices and juices, snacks, and prepared meals.

Inca Museum in Cusco, also known as the Admiral’s House
Inca Museum (Museo Inka) sits in an old 17th century building called Casa del Almirante, the former home of Spanish Admiral Francisco Alderete Maldonado. He built his Cusco palace over Inca Ruins. This place belonged to the Tahuantinsuyo Empire, in this case to the Inca Huascar.
It was badly damaged in the 1650 earthquake and rebuilt by Pedro Peralta de los Ríos, the count of Laguna, whose crest is above the porch. Further damage from the 1950 earthquake has now been fully repaired, restoring the building to its position among Cuzco’s finest colonial houses.
Qoricancha
Temple of Qoricancha or Golden Temple was the most important religious and political temple for the Incas during Tawantinsuyu period.

Admission time to the Temple is from Monday to Saturday 8:30 am -5:30 pm
Sunday 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Plaza de Armas of Cusco
The main square of Cusco is one of the most visited place for Peruvians and foreigners tourists. It is believed that in the past the main square was a swamp that the Incas dried so they could gather there to talk about administrative and royal matters.
Nowadays, you can still find the temples in plaza de armas of Cusco. You can visit them as part of your tour of the city. You can buy the entrance ticket at the door of each temple.
There are many tourist restaurants, jewelry store, tourist agencies, and handicrafts stores, etc surrounding the Plaza.
