    How do you get to Taquile Island?

    To reach Taquile Island and enjoy its landscapes, the first step is getting to Puno. The island is about 22 miles (35 kilometers) from the Port of Puno. Once you are there, you will take a boat that brings you to the island. The trip takes about 3 hours.

    Boat schedules and prices

    If you are already at the Port of Puno, use this as a reference: departures toward the Island of Taquile usually leave between 8:00 am and 8:30 am.

    If you choose a boat to get to Taquile Island, the round trip ticket costs $5.26 (S/ 20.00). This ticket is valid for 15 days, so you can even buy it in advance.

    Where can you buy Taquile souvenirs?

    If you would like to buy textiles made by local residents as a keepsake from your visit to this stunning place, you can stop by the community’s own Artisan Center.

    Do not worry about the price. These items are affordable and fair for the craftsmanship that goes into each piece.

    Recommendations for exploring Taquile Island Lake Titicaca

    • During your visit, we recommend staying respectful and considerate toward local people and the place itself. Practice good habits so you do not disrupt the community’s way of life.
    • Remember that if you are traveling with a minor, they can do the trip under the responsibility of a parent or legal guardian.
