DAY 1: CACHORA (2900 M/9514 FT) – CHIQUISKA (1800 M/5905 FT) 14 KM / SANTA ROSA ALTA (1950 M/6397 FT) 23 KM.

We start the trek in Cachora towards Capuliyoc (2900 m/9514 ft), from where you can observe the mountains, villages and valleys. Afterwards, we descend to our first camp in Chiquiska.

If you can continue, we recommend that you continue on to Santa Rosa Alta, a campsite located 2 hours further on, as it will make the second day’s trek easier.

DAY 2: CHIQUISKA (1800 M/5905 FT) / SANTA ROSA ALTA (1950 M/6397 FT) – MARAMPATA (3000 M/9842 FT) – CHOQUEQUIRAO.

Before the sun rises, we recommend hiking very early in the morning in cool weather conditions. Arriving at Marampata you will have the first view of Choquequirao.

DAY 3. CHOQUEQUIRAO ARCHAEOLOGICAL COMPLEX

DAY 5. COCAMASANA – CONOC – CUSCO

CACHORA

It is a village located at km 0 and the starting point of the trek. Here, there are shops, restaurants and small hostels ideal for acclimatization one day before the Choquequirao Trek.

COCAMASANA

Located at km 16. It offers camping areas and incredible views of the Apurimac Valley.

CHIQUISKA

Located at km 19. It is a private camping area offering showers for the toilet and some food.

THE IMPORTANCE OF CHOQUEQUIRAO PERU FOR INCA CULTURE

Choquequirao will boost and expand Peru’s southern circuit. It is hoped that this new tourist destination will generate its demand, strengthening local services in Cusco and Apurimac.
