FAQS?

Is there internet on the visit?

The internet signal is nil for most of the route. However, from Cusco to a certain part of the car ride it will be possible to pick up an internet signal on the cell phone. After that and throughout the rest of the trip we will find ourselves in open ground, so we will not have an internet signal.

What is the ideal date for the tour?

The best time to visit and have good weather is between April – October since during these dates we have the presence of clear skies and smaller-scale fluvial precipitation. Mainly the driest months are between June – August, which is winter in the Andes.

From January to March is summer in Peru, however, the rainy season is present for Cusco, Salkantay, Humantay Lake, and Rainbow Mountain.

Money in the Peru?

Peru uses the Nuevo Sol (S/.), negotiated between S/. 3.00 and S/. 3.30 depending on the exchange rate of the US dollar (US) and current events.

It is advisable to bring cash, an ATM card, traveler’s checks, as well as a credit card, which can be used for cash advances in an emergency.

When you receive local money, order in single (small bills), then S/. 100 or higher are difficult to change in small towns or for small purchases. Bring as much as possible, especially in small towns.

Public toilets often charge a small fee for use and changing large tickets may be impossible.

The best places for the money exchange rate are fast exchange houses which often give rates slightly better than banks.

Many places accept US dollars. They do not accept broken bills, and probably not be accepted by local Peruvians.

It is better not to exchange money on the street because counterfeit bills are a problem.

How is the weather in Peru?

The climate in Peru is extremely varied depending on the region you visit!

Peru has a variety of climates due to its proximity to the equator and tropical influence, along with the high altitudes of the Andes and the strong currents of the Pacific Ocean. The country is generally divided into three main geographical regions:

Coast – The main feature of the coast is dryness – it is mostly desert, but a desert with mild temperatures, and high humidity. Light rain falls a few months of the year, but usually, the coast is covered by heavy fog from the sea, which brings a lot of fog over the land and often a feeling of cold. During the summer months (December-April), fog disappears and temperatures can exceed 30ºC, especially in the north.

Mountains – The Andes have two well-marked seasons – the dry season its sunny days from April to October and the rainy season between November and March. Daytime temperatures do not fluctuate much throughout the year, but dry season night temperatures often cause severe cold due to frequent frosts above 3,500 mts (11,500 ft). Most tourists choose to visit during the dry months. The climate varies greatly depending on the altitude. Overall, the mountain climate is unpredictable at any time of year!

Amazon – A tropical climate with two seasons – dry and hot between April – October and a hot season between November and March. High humidity is present throughout the year.
