Inkayni Peru tours had another axis on its Annual plan. It was an environmental clean-up project which consisted on the selection of solid waste generated in the area of <\/span>Pisac<\/b><\/a>, province of Calca in the region of <\/span>Cusco<\/b><\/a>.<\/b> Inkayni Peru tours staff together with Tourism university students of UNSAAC volunteered to participate on this clean-up campaign.<\/span><\/p>\n

Plastic Production<\/strong><\/h4>\n

According to the National Geographic, Mass Production of plastics, which began just six decades ago, has accelerated so rapidly that it has created 8.3 billion metric tons\u2014most of it in disposable products that end up as trash. If that seems like an incomprehensible quantity, it is. Even the scientists who set out to conduct the world\u2019s first tally of how much plastic has been produced, discarded, burned or put in landfills, were horrified by the sheer size of the numbers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Of the 8.3 billion metric tons that has been produced, 6.3 billion metric tons has become plastic waste. Of that, only nine percent has been recycled. The vast majority\u201479 percent\u2014is accumulating in landfills or sloughing off in the natural environment as litter. Meaning: at some point, much of it ends up in the oceans, the final sink.<\/span><\/p>\n

Garbage production in Peru<\/h4>\n

Every day on average, more than 18 thousand tons of waste are generated in Peru.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Peru, more than seven and a half million tons of solid waste are generated each year, of which 64% comes from households, according to data from the Ministry of Environment. Over time this rate has increased exponentially. Moreover, if the forecasts of the World Bank are fulfilled, it is estimated that by 2025 up to 36,000 tons of garbage will be generated per day, thus making it necessary to propose immediate solutions such as recycling.<\/span><\/p>\n
