Day’s Highlight: Know the gems located near the city of Cusco, such as Sacsayhuamán.

We will start our city tour in Cusco with the famous 4 ruins tour, heading to Sacsayhuaman, one of the most emblematic places of the Inca Empire.

Afterwards, we will visit the Qenqo Archaeological Park, a center of worship and ceremonies dedicated to mother earth.  Our third stop will be Puca Pucara also known as «Red Fort». Since, the stones with which it was built have become this color due to its high levels of iron.

Finally, our last place of the city tour cusco to visit will be Tambomachay, this place is made from carved rocks and form a beautiful set of canals and waterfalls, coming from springs. For this reason, Tambomachay was a place of worship to the water.

Day’s Highlight: Marvel at the enigmatic terraces of Moray, discover the Salt Mines Maras and enrich your knowledge in Chinchero.

The third day begins with pick-up from your hotel to head towards the picturesque village of Chinchero (3,762 meters/12,342 feet), “The Rainbow Village”. There we will admire the temple of Chinchero and wide constructions inca. In addition, you will have the opportunity to participate in the process of manufacturing fine Andean textiles.

Then we will head towards the Sacred Valley and visit the circular terraces of Moray (3,500 meters/ 11,483 feet) and then go to the small village of Maras to head for the Maras Salt Mines (3,500 meters / 11,483 feet), where you will find more than 3,000 salt wells that have been exploited for human consumption since pre-Inca-cal times.

Finally, we will head to Ollantaytambo train station (2,792 meters/9,160 feet) and board the train that will take us to Aguas Calientes (2,050 meters/6,725 feet).

Day’s Highlight: Discover Machu Picchu, the jewel of the Incas. 

Today we woke up early to board one of the buses that will take us to Machu Picchu (2,430 meters/ 7,972 feet) after presenting our ticket and passport at the entrance, our guide will start your explanation of the history of this Inca wonder while we visit the most important sectors of Machu Picchu as the classic viewpoint, the House of the Guardian, the viewpoint of the Temple of the Sun, the Sacred Rock or the Set Water Mirrors.

After finishing the visit to the wonder of the world, you will return by bus to the village of Aguas Calientes and board the return train to Ollantaytambo, then we will transfer in our transport to Cusco.

Day’s Highlight: Bask in the turquoise waters of Humantay Lagoon.

The fourth day starts early, with pick-up from your hotel to transport us on a trip to Mollepata town (2,900 meters/ 9,515 feet), where we will have a delicious breakfast to recharge our energy and head for Soraypampa (3,850 meters/ 12631 feet).

From Soraypampa we will start the walk to the Humantay Lake accompanied by our guide who will be at your disposal to provide you with all information about the place and to solve any doubt that arises.

When we are near the lake we will stop to enjoy our small box lunch and recharge, reached our goal we will be delighted with the spectacular views of Humantay Lake (4,200 meters/ 13, 779 feet) and its turquoise waters where you can take spectacular photographs.

After having rested we proceed with the descent towards Soraypampa where our transport will be waiting for us to take us to Mollepata, then return to Cusco city and leave at your hotel.

Day’s Highlight: Discover and capture the colorful Mountain of 7 colors. 

Start early, we will pick you up from your hotel to head south of Cusco, on a trip that lasts about 2 hours and 30 minutes, time during which you can rest a little.

Once we reach Cusipata (3,329 m/ 12,772 ft), we will stop at a restaurant where you will enjoy a delicious breakfast (semi-buffet) and its must-have coca mate. Then we continue our journey until reaching Phuluwasipata (4,626 m/15,177 ft), starting point of the hike.

After the walk, we will arrive at the base of Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca (5,020 m/ 16,470 ft), where our guide will provide us with information of the place and a suitable free time of about 40 minutes to explore the areas of this place, take pictures and admire you in all its beauty.

Finally, we will start the return trip in our private transport and we will be arriving to the Cusco City around 4:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m., taking you to the door of your hotel , thus ending our grand tour through the Mountain 7 colors.

Depending on your flight or bus itinerary, you will have the morning free in Cusco to relax, tour the Cusco City on your own or book an optional tour.

The 7 day tour allows you to discover the best cultural and natural attractions of the ancient Cusco City, such as the Sacred Valley, the Machu Picchu citadel, the Ausangate 7 Lakes and the Rainbow Mountain.

The maximum altitude is in the Rainbow Mountain Hike at 5,200 m /16, 466 feet.

The minimum altitude is at Aguas Calientes town at 2,050 m / 6,725 feet.

The ideal season is definitely the dry season (April – October), especially the months of June and August are usually the crowded due to the more stable weather conditions. The sunniest days and there will be less chance of rain.

Yes. Most people adapt well in 1 or 2 days to the altitude of 3,400 meters in Cusco.  But it is important to remember that not everyone reacts in the same way to the change of altitude, some can feel the sickness of altitude and others not. Therefore acclimatize is indispensable to enjoy fully every day without worrying about the sickness of altitude or soroche.

If you experience symptoms of altitude sickness during your tour, it is important to immediately inform your guide. Rest, stay hydrated, chew coca leaves in small amounts are initial steps.  In severe cases, it is necessary to descend to lower altitudes, which could imply not continue with the tour.  On the other hand, we recommend to acclimate at least 1 day in Cusco, avoid copious meals, alcohol and tobacco before the walks.

You don’t need to be an athlete to join our tours, but being in good physical shape will allow you to enjoy the best of the walks and activities. If you have any injury or special condition that may affect your participation in the tour, we recommend that you report it to us before your trip. The safety and comfort of our hikers are essential.

Also, consult your doctor if you have any medical conditions. Our guides are prepared and carry first aid kits for any eventuality. Also during the tours, make sure you have your personal medication with you and keep in constant communication with your guide for any necessary assistance related to your health.

The minimum age recommended for the 8-day tour is 12 years old, as it includes the hike to Rainbow Mountain and the Ausangate 7 Lakes.

It is also mandatory that all minors are accompanied by responsible adults (+18 years) at all times.

If you are looking for the best train experience to Machu Picchu, we recommend the Vistadome.  Although both trains run the same route and times, the Vistadome offers larger windows on the walls and roof, allowing you to enjoy even more of the beautiful scenery on your journey.  In addition, the Vistadome has slightly more spacious seats and offers a dance show and a fashion show with baby alpaca clothes on the stretch of Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo. This adds a plus of entertainment and culture to your travel experience.

During your train journey, (mandatory section to reach Machu Picchu quickly) you will take the services of the railway company Peru Rail or Inca Rail; these railway companies will only allow you to carry 5 kilos of luggage. For this reason and for your convenience, you should only carry a small and light backpack with the necessary items to stay 1 night and make visits while outside of your hotel in Cusco, which you will have to return.

The last day of our package will have the morning free, to relax and visit some places in Cusco city.

What if I lose my migration card?

Be careful not to lose your tourist card, or you will have to queue at the National Migration Superintendency (migration office), also known as migrations, for a replacement card. Credit card is for emergency withdrawals. When you get local currency, ask for small bills, as it is difficult to exchange large ones (S/. 100) in towns or for small purchases. Try to bring change to hand, especially in small towns.

In Peru, Type A and Type C plugs and sockets are used. The electrical current is 220V at a frequency of 60HZ AC, standard plugs accept round teeth. But, many places will have dual-voltage plugs that take flat teeth. Even so, you may need and adapter with a built-in surge protector.

On the other hand, when calling Peru from abroad, dial the international access code of the city in which you are located. Then, the country code of Peru (51), then the area code without the (0) and finally the local number.

In Peru, any number beginning with a 9 is usually a cell phone number. So, numbers starting with 0800 are usually free only when dialed from private phones, not public phones.
