Day’s Highlight: You will discover the majesty of the Sacred Valley and its fascinating cultural attractions.

After breakfast, we will start the day by picking it up from your hotel to head to the picturesque village of Chinchero (3,762 meters/ 12,342 feet). There we will admire the temple of Chinchero and wide constructions inca. In addition, you will have the opportunity to participate in the process of manufacturing fine Andean textiles.

Continuing our tour, we will visit the gigantic circular terraces of Moray (3,500 meters / 11,483 feet), a sample of advanced Inca agricultural engineering.

We will then descend to the Maras Salt Mines (3,500 meters / 11,483 feet), where you will find more than 3,000 salt wells that have been exploited for human consumption since pre-Inca times.

Finally, in the afternoon, we will board our train from Ollantaytambo station (2,792 meters/ 9,160 feet) to the village of Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu village (2,050 meters / 6,725 feet), gateway to one of the most appreciated treasures of humanity: Machu Picchu.

Day’s Highlight: You will visit the majestic Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, a city lost in the upper reaches of lush mountains.

This day we will wake up early for breakfast, and then board one of the first buses that will take us from Aguas Calientes to the Machu Picchu Inca citadel (2,430 m / 7,972 ft).

After presenting our ticket and passport at the entrance, our guide will begin his explanation of the history of this Inca wonder as we tour the most important sectors of Machu Picchu such as the classic viewpoint, the Guardian’s House, the Temple of the Sun, the Sacred Rock or the Water Mirrors Set.

At the end of your guided tour, you will have time to climb the Huayna Picchu or the Machu Picchu Mountain, if you have purchased the entrance ticket for one of these places. These extra tours in Machu Picchu are an optional activity, have an additional cost and must be booked in advance due to limited space.

After finishing the visit to the wonder of the world, you will return by bus to the village of Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included). Later, you will board the train to return to Ollantaytambo and finally arrive in our private transport to your accommodation in the Cusco city.

Day’s Highlight: You will know one of the natural jewels of Cusco: Rainbow Mountain. 

Very early in the morning we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to travel south.

After having breakfast in the nearby village of Cusipata, we will continue our journey by transport to the starting point of the hike at Phuluwasipata (4,626 meters /15,177 feet). After a walk of approximately 2 hours among high Andean landscapes we will arrive at our destination in the Rainbow Mountain or Vinicunca (5,020 meters / 16,466 feet). We will take a 30 minute break to enjoy the scenery, have a snack and absorb the energy of the mountains from this considerable altitude.

We will then go down the same road until we return to our starting point, where we will board our transport. After a short trip, we will return to the place where we had breakfast, but this time for lunch.

Finally we will return to the Cusco city during the course of the afternoon.

Depending on your flight or bus itinerary, you will have the morning free in Cusco to relax, tour the Cusco City on your own or book an optional tour.

We will be attentive to your flight schedule to transfer you promptly to the airport and end our services in this way.

The 5 day tour will take you to know the magic of Cusco, in southern Peru.

You will know the Machu Picchu Inca citadel, the Sacred Valley, as Chinchero, Maras Salt Mines, and Moray.

The maximum altitude is in the Rainbow Mountain Hike at 5,200 m /16, 466 feet.

The minimum altitude is at Aguas Calientes at 2,050 m /6,725 feet.

The ideal season is definitely the dry season (April – October), especially the months of June and August are usually the crowded due to the more stable weather conditions. The sunniest days and there will be less chance of rain.

Yes. Most people adapt well in 1 or 2 days to the altitude of 3,400 meters in Cusco.  But it is important to remember that not everyone reacts in the same way to the change of altitude, some can feel the sickness of altitude and others not. Therefore acclimatize is indispensable to enjoy fully every day without worrying about the sickness of altitude or soroche.

If you experience symptoms of altitude sickness during your tour, it is important to immediately inform your guide. Rest, stay hydrated, chew coca leaves in small amounts are initial steps.  In severe cases, it is necessary to descend to lower altitudes, which could imply not continue with the tour.  On the other hand, we recommend to acclimate at least 1 day in Cusco, avoid copious meals, alcohol and tobacco before the walks.

You don’t need to be an athlete to join our tours, but being in good physical shape will allow you to enjoy the best of the walks and activities. If you have any injury or special condition that may affect your participation in the tour, we recommend that you report it to us before your trip. The safety and comfort of our hikers are essential.

Also, consult your doctor if you have any medical conditions. Our guides are prepared and carry first aid kits for any eventuality. Also during the tours, make sure you have your personal medication with you and keep in constant communication with your guide for any necessary assistance related to your health.

The minimum age recommended for the 6-day tour is 12 years old, as it includes the hike to Rainbow Mountain and the Humantay Lake.

It is also mandatory that all minors are accompanied by responsible adults (+18 years) at all times.

If you are looking for the best train experience to Machu Picchu, we recommend the Vistadome.  Although both trains run the same route and times, the Vistadome offers larger windows on the walls and roof, allowing you to enjoy even more of the beautiful scenery on your journey.  In addition, the Vistadome has slightly more spacious seats and offers a dance show and a fashion show with baby alpaca clothes on the stretch of Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo. This adds a plus of entertainment and culture to your travel experience.

During your train journey, (mandatory section to reach Machu Picchu quickly) you will take the services of the railway company Peru Rail or Inca Rail; these railway companies will only allow you to carry 5 kilos of luggage. For this reason and for your convenience, you should only carry a small and light backpack with the necessary items to stay 1 night and make visits while outside of your hotel in Cusco, which you will have to return.

The last day of our package will have the morning free, to relax and visit some places in Cusco city.

What if I lose my migration card?

Be careful not to lose your tourist card, or you will have to queue at the National Migration Superintendency (migration office), also known as migrations, for a replacement card. Credit card is for emergency withdrawals. When you get local currency, ask for small bills, as it is difficult to exchange large ones (S/. 100) in towns or for small purchases. Try to bring change to hand, especially in small towns.

In Peru, Type A and Type C plugs and sockets are used. The electrical current is 220V at a frequency of 60HZ AC, standard plugs accept round teeth. But, many places will have dual-voltage plugs that take flat teeth. Even so, you may need and adapter with a built-in surge protector.

On the other hand, when calling Peru from abroad, dial the international access code of the city in which you are located. Then, the country code of Peru (51), then the area code without the (0) and finally the local number.

Then, when making international calls from Peru, dial the international access code (00). Then the country code of the country you are calling, then the area code and finally the local phone number.

In Peru, any number beginning with a 9 is usually a cell phone number. So, numbers starting with 0800 are usually free only when dialed from private phones, not public phones.
