DAY 1: CUSCO - TAMBOMACHAY - QENKO

First, we leave the Inca site of Tambomachay, just outside Cusco. Then, our Huchuy Qosqo trek will lead us through mountain passes, valleys small communities, and beautiful lakes. Also, with large expanses of grassland, this area is home to a wide variety of birds. For example, Andean Geese (Wayatas), partridges and lapwings. In addition, a variety of birds of prey, are regularly seen during the day.

The goal of the day will be the village of Qenko located near Lake Qoricocha (Golden Lagoon). Indeed, Qenko is a traditional Andean community, located higher than Cusco or the Sacred Valley. This day we have two main objectives. First, learning about the customs of the culture of the Andean people. Secondly, the visit to the Inca site of Huchuy Qosqo Peru. Upon awakening, our guide will lead us to one of the houses on the site, where we will meet a local family. Above all, people are incredibly welcoming and are as eager to learn about you as you are about them. The inhabitants of the Huchuy Qosqo trek do not receive many visitors.

After that, you will have the opportunity to give the local villagers any gifts you have brought. Also, to buy something made by the local community.

Afterwards, we will head to Huchuy Qosqo. The route follows an original Inca Trail that will lead us through a beautiful and isolated valley, full of native plants, flowers, and birds. It will certainly feel like another world compared to the high meadows we leave behind.

Accordingly, it will take about two and a half hours to reach Huchuy Qosqo. Then, for a short break will enjoy beautiful views of the Sacred Valley. Most importantly, you will have a guided tour of the site. Then, in the afternoon we will go to the village of Lamay. As a result, we will take a bus to Ollantaytambo and then a train to Aguas Calientes.

DAY 3: MACHU PICCHU!

On this day, we will take the first bus to Machu Picchu to enter the citadel just opening. Next, we will have a guided tour of 2 hours on site. During this, you will learn about the Incas by visiting all the most important areas of the citadel of Machu Picchu.

After that, you will have time to ascend to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain. To clarify, this is optional, only if you have the permits and/or entrance tickets. Afterward, we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo. Consequently, we will continue in a van back to Cusco city. This way, ends our tour of the Huchuy Qosqo trek.

DEPARTURE DATE FOR HUCHUY QOSQO TREK TO MACHU PICCHU:

Above all, we offer daily departures with at least 02 people. Our tour can leave any day of the week, 12 months a year.

DEPARTURE TIME:

Certainly, we depart from Cusco around 05:00 am or 05:30 am to start the Huchuy Qosqo trek. Moreover, it will depend on the location of your hotel in Cusco.

FAQS?

Is the walk difficult? Do I need to be in good physical condition?

On the other hand, all our hikes (Inca Trail, Salkantay, Ausangate, Lares, etc) are moderately difficult, and long. So, if you plan to book any of these routes you should be in relatively good physical condition as well as acclimatizing. Certainly, we suggest arriving in Cusco at least 02 days before you depart from the Huchuy Qosqo trek. In short, during the two months before your walk we suggest a regular and moderate routine to improve endurance. ¡ We wish you the best experience possible!

I have a food allergy. Can I still participate?

Please inform us in detail of your allergic condition at the time of making your reservation. Also, the severity of your reaction and any medications you take in an emergency.

Likewise, if your allergy is severe, we ask you to be accompanied by a friend or a conscious person. Therefore, fully responsible for your situation and ready with any medication.

When should I arrive in Cusco or get to your office?

We require all clients to arrive in Cusco at least 48 hours before the start of their Huchuy Qosqo trek, although 03 nights before is ideal. You must pay your remaining balance two days before your departure for your trip. In addition, you can acclimatize to the altitude to start your walk comfortably. Please note that your remaining balance must be paid in cash at our office.

Therefore, our office hours are from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, and from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Are hiking sticks or poles necessary?

For this trek more than any other, we do recommend hiking sticks, especially for those with any known knee problems. The poles will assist your balance and reduce the impact on your knees.

Where can I store my baggage that I don't need for the trail?

Any baggage that is not necessary for your trek may be stored in your hotel in Cusco (most hotels offer this service free of charge). However, In the case that your hotel may not provide this service, we will store your baggage safely in our office free of charge.

What is the best date for a trek?

Most importantly, The best time for making the trek with good weather is between April – October when there is minimal rainfall and clear skies. Therefore, The driest months are June – August, which is winter in the Andes.

When is the rainy season in Cusco?

In the same vein, January to March is summer in Peru, which means the rainy season for Cusco and especially the Huchuy Qosqo trek to Machu Picchu, which is located mostly in the tropical cloud forest.

Where will I finish at the end of the Huchuy Qosqo trek?

Certainly, We will pick you up from your hotel to begin your trek, and upon finishing, we will also leave you at your hotel.
